About The Omnium

The Carter County Omnium will be June 5-6, 2021. It continues the three-race event in East Tennessee since 2006 with cash prizes of $9,000+. This points stage race combines a major climbing road race with a short time trial and a criterium (closed circuit race). For participants, it has honed their form so the next year they have competed in the Tour de France and the Tour of California, or become National Champions. For the spectators, it shows exciting competition within hands-reach along the criterium course.

Free Virtual Training Race

The Carter County Roan Groan short and long courses have been loaded on the RGT virtual platform. The courses are accurate to the mileage to the corners and elevation changes but the landscape viewed is generic. Two group events have been set up for Thursday, May 6 and May 20 at 6:30 PM eastern time. All registered 2021 entrants will be given free links for these events for prerace practice. If you don’t live near a mountain this will give you mountain training opportunities.

To participate you’ll need to download the RGT simulator to your computer, and the RGT app to your phone. Might want to give this a whirl before the actual ride. Unfortunately, RGT requires some way to measure power like a smart trainer, or power cranks ETC. If you don’t have that then RGT won’t work. Be sure and download everything and set up an account. RGT is free, but the free account is limited to these two roads. However, free accounts can participate in an event that is organized by a premium member at no charge.
